This is a tag idea that I came up with! Hopefully, no one has come up with it already…. Okay, so the purpose of this tag is to talk about what your fictional favorites of 2016. You can continue doing this in 2017, as long as you talk about what your favorites were for 2016. But once 2017 comes to an end…well, there’ll be time for a new, but similar, tag! Anyway, the basic rules are:
- If you do this tag please tag me at Kate@meltingpotsandothercalamities (I’m the only writer or Kate at this blog, but that’s just my tag name).
- Please answer the questions. What’s the point of the tags if you don’t answer the questions?
- You can tag as many people as you like!
- Oh, and to clarify: the show or book or whatever do not need to have been created IN 2016, like, you can say your favorite book is The Green Mile, which is okay for this list if you read it for the first time in 2016.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK AND MOVIE FROM 2016? TV SHOWS OR WEBTOONS/ COMICS ARE ALSO ALLOWED, BUT AREN’T NEEDED.
Book: Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. She actually has a WordPress blog, at: Kerri Maniscalco. Check it out, if curious! She’s a great writer?
Movie: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them
TV show: Person of Interest
Webtoon: Dr. Frost
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE AUTHOR OF 2016? SCREEN WRITERS ARE ALLOWED.
I’d have to say Stephen King. I may have started reading him in 2015, but I read more of his books starting in 2017, and became a fan. His character writing is the best I’ve seen in a while.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ACTOR AND ACTRESS OF 2016?
Actor: Hmm. Hmm…As much as I’d like to say Michael Emerson or Eddie Redmayne, I have to say Daniel Craig. For now. I like his portrayal of James Bond, he made him seem much more human. I appreciate him for being in both James Bond and Cowboys and Aliens…many wouldn’t. Actress: I’d have to say maybe Amy Acker. Her portrayal of Root in Person of Interest was fascinating; she was so creepy at first, despite her young, surprisingly sweet looking face. But she also played an antiheroine seeking redemption and learning about the value of human life incredibly well.
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS OF 2016? LIMITED TO TEN CHARACTERS.
Hmm…. I’ll separate this by fiction medium. (You don’t need to do this much. Stay in the areas you know of.)
Webtoon: Dr. Frost- Dr. Frost. Seol Hong- Cheese in the Trap
Book: Danny Torrance- The Shining. Audrey Rose Wadsworth, –Stalking Jack the Ripper
Movies: Newt Scamander- Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, M- Casino Royale, Skyfall
TV shows: Kurisu Makise- Steins;Gate, John Reese-Person of Interest
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FICTIONAL COUPLE AND BROTP?
Book: Couple: Audrey Rose and Thomas, Stalking Jack the Ripper BrOTP: Mattie and Rooster, True Grit
Movie: Couple: Jacob and Queenie, Fantastic Beasts, (I would’ve said Newt and Tina, but they’re not quite canon yet). BrOTP: Kenji and Kazuma, Summer Wars
TV: Couple: Okabe and Kurisu, Steins;Gate, BrOTP: Reese and Finch, Person of Interest
Webtoon: Couple: Amy and Oliver, Space Boy, BrOTP: Frost and Yoon, Dr. Frost
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FICTIONAL ANTAGONIST?
The serial killer in Webtoon Bastard. I can’t reveal his name due to spoilers.
WHAT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING YOU SAW ON TV, MOVIES, COMICS, OR BOOKS?
Either all of Annarasumanara, a Webtoon that has some of the best art I’ve ever seen…:
“I get where you’re coming from…I wanted to blame myself too…when you had to leave the space station…I wanted it to be [my fault]. Blaming myself for what happened to you made me feel like I had more control over my life. I kept trying to figure out what I had done to make you leave, because I wanted to find a way to make you come back. But in the end, I couldn’t. Because that’s not how life works. Sometimes things happen whether you want them to or not. I think learning to accept that is part of growing up. So don’t blame yourself for the way this boy is acting, Amy. You can’t control what he does. You can only control how to respond to what he does.” -Jemmah, Space Boy
This was the hardest question for me…maybe I’ll do a blog post just on quotes. But this quote…it may not resonate with some of you, but as I went through something very similar to Amy in Space Boy, it touched me in a way very few quotes did. I only wish I had someone like Jemmah who said those things to me when I was still grieving. My family definitely he,led, but I wish I had someone who could emphasize with me, even if only a little. But this quote spurred even more healing for me.
That’s the questions! You most definitely do not have to answer in as much depth as I did, but you can if you wish! I tag:
