3  Things about me!

1. I have a Wattpad account where I’m working on two stories; a mystery and a science fiction. I’d  appreciate it if you could check it out! My user name is: kdreader02.

2. I will be making posts in the future that aren’t about Webtoons. I’ll still be making those, but I’m thinking about reviews or reading/writing advice. And of course, my “Women’s Strength in Fiction” articles!

3. I love ice cream and cheesecake, but I’m not supposed to eat them because I can’t have casein. What is that? It’s something found in dairy that causes me to have big mood swings.

ICEBREAKER’S QUESTIONS:

First book you read in 2017?

Clockwork Prince.  And I loved it.

What’s the last fandom you joined in?

That’s tough…I don’t really consider myself a part of fandoms, more of a big fan of something, mainly because  the shipping wars frighten me a little. Like, in the Sherlock fandom, if I admit that I don’t ship Johnlock, and that it’s my BrOTP, people get mad. But i guess I’d have to say The Infernal Devices fandom or the Tokyo Ghoul fandom. Can’t recall which I got into last.

Best GIF or meme of the year?

Another tough one! If I had to choose, it may be the, “If I fits, I sits,” cat meme:

img_5991

A special skill you have that you’re proud of?

Uh…Icebreaker, why do you have so many tough questions? Anyway, I guess it may be…um… My good taste in fiction and recommendations? Yeah, that’s it.

Random: It’s the zombie apocalypse, which book are you okay with throwing at the zombies?

Maybe the Puella Magi Madoka Magica manga? I loved the anime, and I liked the manga last year, but on reread, it didn’t translate well to printed form. 😥

SOPHIE’S QUESTONS:

Dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate? Be honest.

That’s easy. Dark chocolate. I dunno, milk is a little too sweet for me; it’s so sweet at times, it taste almost fake. There are times when I like it, though. And white chocolate is technically chocolate. But it’s still good.

The first fictional character you ever fell in love with?

I literally don’t remember. Probably some Disney prince when I was younger and silly, lol. Nowadays I find myself wanting to be best friends with characters, rather than romance. It might explain why my favorite fictional relationships seem to be platonic, rather than romantic.

If you could talk to someone who’s already passed away, who would it be and what would you talk about? (Not counting family members or friends)

Oh..Lol. Maybe Sir Arthur Conan Doyle? But then again, it’d be too cruel to tell him how popular Sherlock Holmes is so many years after his death… I dunno. I have a feeling I might try to pull a Vincent and the Doctor thing where I try to help a famous person who had a tragic life, but I’d probably fail miserably.

You discovered a new planet. What do you name it and why?

I’d try to use a name that fits the planet..Somehow. Maybe use old Greek or Roman roots. Or even name it after a minor character in either mythology, just for irony in the planet-naming tradition.

Weird: A genie will grant you the thing you want most in the world, but you will lose the thing you are most proud of/most treasure about yourself in the process. Would you still accept the wish?

No. I have no idea what I’m most proud of, but I have a feeling it would be my self-published book that would go. The Melting Pot may be a far cry from perfect, but it’s still my book, and I don’t want that to go away.

: MY BOOK!
MY QUESTIONS:

1. Have you ever checked out a hyped book/movie/TV show/other type of fiction, and did you enjoy it?

2. What is your favorite fandom? I don’t mean the show or book itself, but the group of people involved.

3. Give two of your favorite quotes, one funny, and the other inspirational.

4. While writing your posts, do you have writer’s block, and if so, what kind is it? Like, do you have trouble coming up with ideas, or do you lack motivation?

5. (Funny question). Name something you loved as a kid. Do you still like it on occasion?

  1. *Insert crazy-excited-super-happy emoji here* THANK YOU FOR NOMINATING ME! God, this is such a pleasure and this award seems so much fun! And all those wonderful answers you gave to the tough questions! Seriously, I’m glad I know a little bit more about you xx
And YAY for me finding yet another fellow Sherlockian; you seem to love Sherlock Holmes as much as I do (although I may need to tell you that I’m a bit on the obsessive side of loving it). And I love The Infernal Devices too! One of my all-time favourite trilogies~

(PS. JohnLock is my BrOTP too XD )

      1. Clockwork Princess had me in tatters by the end; so I’d really want to hear your thoughts on it! And I’m quite certain I’ve only shipped a BrOTP this hard only once really, with Jem and Will. And I can’t wait to answer your questions either~

      2. Okay, I’ll let you know what I think once I finish! And Will and Jem are such friendship goals, oh my gosh. I find myself liking platonic relationships a little more than romantic relationships, and so while I liked each of the romances in TID, Will and Jem’s friendship is easily my favorite relationship in the series.

        Liked by 1 person

      3. I definitely agree with you there! Their friendship is very beautiful that it had me struggling with the romance because I loved the two so much and I really couldn’t pick one over the other with the romance (Okay no, that’s not completely it.. I’m a Wessa shipper, really).

  2. Congratulations on the award! And thank you for thinking of me!

Wow I was able to relate to a lot of your answers. I too don’t ship John and Sherlock romantically, I think they’re better as friends. And these days, even I find myself wanting to befriend fictional characters rather than mentally date them lol. Even celebrities for that matter.

Welcome to the TG fandom! I’m not a hard core TG fan but I like being part of the community so yay.

I’m totally going to check out your books on wattpad. You don’t get to read a lot of sci-fi and mystery over there, its majorly dominated by all the fan fics and romance, so it’s great knowing that there are more sci-fi stories hidden there as well.

I loved reading your answers. Thanks again! Awesome post. 🙂

    1. Aw, no problem. I really love your blog, so yeah! And I’m happy to see another person who doesn’t ship John and Sherlock; I like their friendship too much to be able to.
Yeah, I dunno what wanting to befriend fictional characters/celebrities says about us, but it’s good to see someone else who gets it.
I am enjoying Tokyo Ghoul, but not as much as say…Steins;Gate or the first part of Death Note.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy my Wattpad stories! They don’t have a lot of chapters (yet) but I hope to update more often there. And I actually don’t read a lot of fanfiction over there or romance.
I’m glad you enjoyed this post, and I can’t wait to see your answers!

      1. I think it’s better to be friends with fictional characters/celebrities . I mean that way, we can be equally close to every single one of them, other wise we’ll have to choose a single one to date. As if that would actually happen, but you know what I mean?
I feel the same way about TG. It’s good, but not good enough. Steins Gate and Death Note are on an entirely new level. I love them both!
I am sure I’ll enjoy reading your stories. Haven’t checked them out yet, but will surely do whenever I can.
And yes, even I’m not a fan of fan fiction. It just doesn’t click for me.
Thanks! I cannot wait to answer these questions! 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I know! Yeah, it’s like I’ll never know them, haha, but still. It’s nice. I’d just enjoy being friends.
And Steins Gate and Death Note are so good, oh my gosh. I think Steins Gate is probably my favorite anime, simply because the plot twist in the middle actually made it better, unlike Death Note. It just got better, rather than having a quality drop. Although the Death Note manga is better than the anime during the second part; it doesn’t have as big a drop.
That’s all right! Take your time. I can’t wait to hear what you think about my stories.
I enjoy fan fiction, but I prefer original stories. I just think a lot of fan fiction writers can’t keep the characters in character.
And I look forward to your answers! And I hope they’re good questions.

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Steins Gate is amazing! The beginning was a little confusing but the entire plot was so intriguing! And that plot twist was great. Another thing that I liked about the anime was that the protagonist did not have any special powers or abilities. He was just a normal ordinary guy!
As for death note, I think the first part was amazing! It was something so original and witty and kept you guessing. After L’s death, though, the story started going downhill.
I don’t enjoy fan fictions, mainly because we know that’s never going to happen, and I don’t know, it kind of feels wrong (especially if its a celebrity) .

        Liked by 1 person

      4. I loved that series so much! It was interesting, and the plot twist didn’t make for a quality drop. And I did enjoy Okabe; I liked that he was a normal guy with quirks.
Yeah, I feel you with Death Note. Like, I don’t know if there was a way quality wouldn’t have dropped after L’s death (he was such a good character!), but it didn’t need to drop THAT much.
Ugh. Celebrity fanfiction. No. Just nope. That’s crossing a line. But I think that’s the fun with fanfiction; when written properly, it can show off something that could’ve happened. However, it’s very difficult to find well written fics, so that’s too bad.

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Same. I enjoyed it very much! And Okabe was such a funny and dorky character.
Yeah, the whole Near Mello thing wasn’t nearly as captivating as the first part.
And I know right? Celebrity fanfics are just ugh. That’s the only way to describe it. I feel that it’s not fair to the celebrities. Yeah, good fanfics are hard to find.

        Liked by 1 person

      6. I know. They were better characters in the manga though, I have to admit. But in the anime…no. Just no.
Celebrity fanfics are aren’t fair to celebrities. I understand writing fanfiction for stories or TV, but not real people. It’s sort of like shipping, in a way.

        Liked by 1 person

      7. Oh I haven’t read the manga. But I didn’t like them quite as much in the anime.
Exactly. Celebrities are real people too. Book or show related fics are alright so long as they don’t become too far fetched.

  3. Congrats on two nominations! (I know I was one but I’m glad you got two!) I didn’t know my questions were tough! I’m sorry!! I’m really bad at asking questions a lot, I usually repeat questions I heard because I have no originality. (Pssst! It’s a secret!) I loved all your answers though! I shipped Johnlock for awhile (probably still do) but it’s really complicated because of how things with Mary began—and ended. <- Still sad to think about. But I really love them as brothers/family because it's sweet too. (I feel the same way between the Doctor and his companions, I only see them as friends.) I WANT TO SEE TOKYO GHOUL!! T~T But it sounds so sad, I don't know if I can get into it. A lot of anime I want to watch are all sad, I can't bare to watch them for the fear of feels. (Feels are great when they're unexpected, but when you know it's coming you just want to avoid them.) Sorry for rambling! Overall, I just wanted to say congrats!! (P.S. I heard there's a Sherlock manga coming out [or maybe it's already out 🤔]!!!)

    1. Oh for crying out loud! Now TWO replies are comments! What am I doing wrong? Anyway, to repeat what I have said twice now, I’m bad at asking questions too, so we’re all good. And I can see your point about shipping. But to make a TID reference, I see almost every Holmes and Watson duo as best friends, and in the case of Sherlock and John, Parabatai. And I’m almost done with Clockwork Princess…oh dear. The feels…

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That should be the highest level of BrOTP that you can achieve. The it should be “long time friends” then “regular friends” to “acquaintances.” And there will be more feels. It’s going to be worth it though.

        Liked by 1 person

  4. I’m so happy you nominated me!! This is such a fun award that is amazing for its uniqueness in all of its questions! Also, I so agree with you about Sherlock! That show is amazing!

  5. Lol, it’s all good. I probably asked some tough questions too… Yeah, I have problems coming up with questions too.
Ah, I can see your point with the JohnLock ship…it did get complicated. But to use a TID reference, I see almost every Holmes and Watson duo as more best friends, and in the case of Sherlock and John, Parabatai. Ha, fandom reference… And man, I’m almost done with Clockwork Princess…oh dear. The feels…

  6. Oh dear…a below comment was meant as a reply…apologies! It’s all good…I asked some hard questions too. I also have problems coming up with questions.

  7. YES, you passed the test! Hahahaha just kidding (but really you did, and why do people even call white chocolate chocolate? It’s not!)
There seems to be a pattern with people seeing bromance as actual romance for some reason that I can’t quite fathom… Like Sherlock/Watson, Naruto/Sasuke, etc. What do they see that I don’t? No offense, I just really can’t spot anything but really deep, platonic friendship there. This is especially relevant when characters don’t seem to have many previous or current relationships. It’s like they’re incapable of forming bonds other than romantic ones. But hey, to each his own!
I really like your webtoon posts but I’d love to see reviews and the like in the future as well! So I’m looking forward to those 😊
Great post and thanks for the shout out!

    1. Hehe…IDK why I like dark chocolate the best, I just do.
I know. I get your feeling. Have you read The Infernal Devices or even the Mortal Instruments? There’s a system there called Parabatai, which is basically the deepest level of friendship imaginable. I see most bromance as that. I just find myself liking friendship more than romance.
Yep! I have a few ideas for reviews, but I have to wait to finish some things.
And no problem! You nominated me after all.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Not yet, no, but I like that concept! Deep, unconditional friendship is a bond much harder to break than romantic love, so I can see why you’re do drawn to it 😉 It’s epic and fascinating!
Best of luck with your posts! ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Yes, that’s what drew to me to it too! Overall, it just sounds so much better than TMI.
I never know what’s the right order to read these types of books… Chronologically or by release date? Eh, I’ll try my luck too 😛

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Same here, lol. I just got so into TID that I was like, “Well, sorry TMI, don’r have time for you. Gotta see what’s happening with these people.” Other great steampunk books would be the Stoker and Holmes series (the summary makes it sound like fanfiction…but it’s amazing! You won’t regret it) and Stalking Jack the Ripper. SJTR is a little more popular, but while it may not be perfect (it’s the writer’s debut) it’s definitely good.

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Oh yeah I’ve heard about SJTR a lot!
I’ve only read about the other series from one fellow blogger, though (could it have been you? Hmmm), and not so much elsewhere. They did rave about it so I will definitely check it out 🙂

  8. Oooh, thanks so much for the nomination! I really appreciate it! ❤ Your answers were so much fun to read. Falling in love with a Disney Prince isn't too bad for a first character love. XD And OMG, I so know what you mean about the whole Vincent in the Doctor thing. I loved your idea, but I could totally see where it could go wrong, lol. But I think it's such a cute idea! Fantastic job and I'm a bit behind on my tags, but it's coming and your questions seem so fun! Thanks again and great post! 😀

    1. No problem! I look forward to your answers. And I was like three…so that’s why my first crush was probably a Disney prince. I know, I would totally mess up doing a Vincent and the Doctor thing, but…yeah. And it’s okay; I’m behind on my tags too.
