I am happy to announce I was nominated for the Liebster Award? I would like to thank Nadwa@ Painfully Fictional for nominating me! She has amazing book reviews and tags; please go check her out!
The rules are:
Thank the person who nominated you and answer the 11 questions they’ve written for you.
Nominate 11 people and give them 11 different questions to answer.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
What was the first book series you’ve ever read?
Are you asking about in recent memory, like back in third grade or something? Because I can’t remember…probably the Junie B. Jones series, although it made me uncomfortable. I read that in kindergarten.
What’s your favorite genre?
Anyone who knows me knows this, but: mystery/psychological/thriller. Or a blending of any of those.
Do you read classics? If not, do you ever plan to?
Well, I sorta have to read them for school… I don’t like many of them, but one of the very few I actually enjoyed was Rebecca. I didn’t like the first sixty pages, but after that, it became kind of twisted. What does that say about me, that I only enjoyed this when it got all disturbing and strange?
Are there any other avid readers in your family?
Sort of. Both my parents used to love to read, but are too busy to really read anymore. But they do read Webton s in their spare time, haha. 😂
Your (current) OTP?
How do I just choose one? And what qualifies as OTP? I have several ships, but I dunno if they’re OTPs. I’ll just put in two of the most recent ships and two friendships I’ve discovered that I like.
Ships: I love the love triangle in The Infernal Devices, but since I can’t choose which ship I like more, I’ll go with a side pairing: Charlotte and Henry. And another recent ship would be Kaneki and Touka from Tokyo Ghoul.
Friendships: Jamie Watson and Charlotte Holmes, A Study in Charlotte. And of course, Will and Jem from the The Jnfernal Devices.
What’s your favorite quote?
Hmm… I’ll have a humorous quote and inspirational quote.
Inspirational quote: “When everything is over, when the worst has happened, there’s still one thing left in Pandora’s Box: hope.” (Root, Person of Interest)
Funny quote: “When the director explained the character to me, I thought of you, professor. The psychiatrist in the film is a cold hearted jerk.” (Anna, Dr. Frost)
What’s a book you’d really like to see turned into a movie?
Uh…I was doing some thinking, and I was thinking that maybe book to TV shows would work better with the book format. But if I had to choose for a movie, I’d say either The Infernal Devices or the Stoker and Holmes series.
Who’s your auto-buy author?
I dunno. I don’t think I have one.
What popular book do you just hate?
I don’t think I have one! Well, if I had to choose, I suppose the original Alice in Wonderland. It just felt like a random jumble of words put together into semi coherent sentences.
How many books did you read in 2016?
I have no idea. Too many to think of.
Do you read Wattpad stories? If yes, which one’s your favorite?
I have a Wattpad account, where I write my stories. My user name is KDreader02. My stories are The Girl in the Locked Room (mystery) and 9-L (science fiction). However, I don’t get to read or work on there often, but so far, I love Confessions About Colton. It’s very interesting and smart.
MY QUESTIONS:
- What kind of blog tags are your favorite to do?
- How do you come up with ideas for blog posts?
- Give an example of an OTP/ship, BrOTP (favorite friendship) and NOTP (least favorite ship)
- Are there any fandoms you’d like to possibly join?
- List a few problematic favorite characters.
- Who is a writer whose writing style you may not care for, but you love anyway?
- What are some books/TV shows/movies/Webtoons you liked less than you thought you would?
- Now list some books/TV shows/movies/Webtoons you liked more than you thought you would.
- What is a fandom you have an unpopular opinion towards? Can be a good opinion or bad one.
- Do you have any blog recommendations?
- Please read my blog post Matching Webtoons with Fandoms. Are there any Webtoons you’d like to check out now? (Shameless advertising, lol)

Chantelle Griffin

If you’ve already done this award, you don’t have to do this. No hard feelings! (Well, maybe a little…) I’m joking, I’m joking!
I didn’t like very many of the classics I read for school either, but Rebecca was my exception as well!! It was really captivating and I was spellbound by it. Great post and congrats!!

Yes, it was so well written and unpredictable! And the majority of the characters were sympathetic, even with their flaws. And the writing style was beautiful. And thanks!

Congratulations on the award and thank you for the nomination!
I tend to prefer dark and gritty stories too. They’re…fun.

Thanks, and no problem! I look forward to how you answer my questions.
And I’m glad to see that I’m not crazy to like the darker stories more, haha. (I think I could tell that you like dark stuff from your icon, lol. Attack on Titan is good!)

Ah, I’m not subtle, am I? Yep, it’s a great show.

Congrats on the nomination 🙂 I had to read Animal Farm at school and I absolutely hated it. But I think maybe I just hated it because it was a school thing…I never liked any of the books they made us read!! Great answers!

Oof, I have no desire to read Animal Farm. Dunno why, I just don’t. And that’s the problem with assigned reading; some kids at my school were complaining about having to read I Am The Messenger, one of my favorite books. I basically have a theory that we’re given so many “bad” books to read that we automatically associate assigned reading as bad, no matter how good the book actually is. It’s sad; I wish I could like more assigned reading.
Sorry for going on a tangent about a silly theory. But thanks!

I completely agree though hey. I would roll my eyes as soon as they had us read a new book because all the other ones were terrible. Yeah, I don’t think I would like it even now…Like, it’s pretty smart how it is written but I never thought it was great. Lol I go on tangents all the time, so I am on your level hehe 🙂

Thank you so much for nominating me! I love this award and your questions are very interesting! I can’t wait to answer them 🙂 Love the infernal devices. It’s about the only love triangle I actually love reading about, haha 🙂

No problem! And thanks; I have trouble with coming up with questions. And ooh, I agree with you about The Infernal Devices, so much!

Yes, love that series so much! haha

The other love triangle I can think of that is actually good is from the Webtoon Siren’s Lament. It’s kind of sad, when you think about it; I have read so many books and Webtoons, and yet only two good love triangles come to mind. But both writers are great at twisting around cliche tropes!

That’s true, love triangles are a tricky business. I don’t know that book, I am going to check it out 🙂

It’s not a book, it’s a self published comic series. You can find it on the Webtoons site, or if you want to see if it’s your kind of fiction, you can check out my Webtoons List and Articles series.

Congratulations on the award!
Those are some awesome quotes 🙂 And I really want to read The Infernal Devices, Rebecca and A Study in Charlotte!
I usually like it when a book becomes kind of twisted too… It just means it gets more interesting! There’s nothing wrong with us… Right?

You should read all of them! They’re really good.
And heh, glad to hear I’m not the only one. Rebecca started as just this typical romance…and then it became very twisted indeed. And no! There’s nothing wrong with us…I think.

Hahaha I’ll try! Haven’t had much free time these days… Lots of books to read!
And Rebecca just sounds more and more interesting to me XD
