Totally Should Have Book Tag

Thanks Sophie @Blame it on Chocolate for tagging me for this very fun tag! If you haven’t checked out her blog, you have to right now! She has amazing book content, including tags and reviews! And more.

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE GOTTEN A SEQUEL:

I can’t think of many stand-alones  where a sequel is necessary, but I would be happy with a sort of epilogue to Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver. The mental health part and its aftereffects could be explored in greater detail in a sequel/short story, and it’d be interesting.

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE GOTTEN A SPIN-OFF SERIES:

Most of the books I’ve read that are series either already have spin-offs or are better off without them or aren’t complete yet. That being said, I wouldn’t complain if Colleen Gleason writes another book series set in the alternate steampunk universe of Stoker and Holmes once the series finishes. The world building is amazing.

AN AUTHOR THAT TOTALLY SHOULD WRITE MORE BOOKS:

Markus Zusak. He’s only written a few books back in Australia, and only two of his books are available in America. I hope he writes more soon, and that more of his books become available.

A CHARACTER THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE:

I usually don’t have strong feelings towards love triangles or ships, so nobody comes to mind. I may change my mind later, but no one memorable comes to mind…

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED DIFFERENTLY:

Again, I’m usually okay with the way books end, but two that come to mind are The Hunger Games. It just felt…empty by the end. Katniss was just…I dunno how to say it. It felt hollow to me. Another (milder) one could be the Webtoon Bastard. In some way, it felt underwhelming…but the epilogue was amazing!

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A MOVIE FRANCHISE

Stoker and Holmes, and I am the Messenger. Both could be amazing films!

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD ONLY ONE POINT OF VIEW:

Allegiant. The multiple POV gave too much away, and the voices were too similar.

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A COVER CHANGE

Um…Maybe The Selection series? Nothing against the covers, but they kinda look like fashion magazine covers to me.

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE KEPT THE ORIGINAL COVERS.

Any book that has the movie poster on it. No book deserves that!

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE STOPPED AT BOOK ONE

I read the second Unwind book. I’ll have to finish the series, but I didn’t like it as much as the first…

  1. Loved this tag, Kate! 🙂
The Hunger Games… I still can’t understand, to this day, what the hell happened with the series. The first book was awesome. The second was okay. But the final one… Ugh. Hated that ending and, like you said, felt so empty! I felt no emotion whatsoever.
Totally agree with The Selection covers! They’re so awful I probably would never have wanted to pick them up, no matter how good the story is. And I absolutely avoid movie poster books like the plague!
Thank you for the shout out, you’re awesome ❤

    1. I know! I really liked the first two books (Catching Fire started slow, but lived up to its name by the end), and the third one just felt devoid of emotion. It was like Collins was so focused on finishing her series she forgot to put in heart. And I feel as though Katniss’s mental health could’ve been covered better.
The Selection as a whole had a good concept, but rather poor execution. If it had been more reminiscent of something like the story of Esther (the author even said she was inspired by that) it would’ve been way better.
And no problem, you did tag me after all!
