Well, this is my first non-tag post of June! And I decided to share my story of my blog name. My overly long, wordy, and convoluted blog name. The story of how I got into blogging is another post, likely for my one year blogging anniversary in two months. Anyway, here’s my story:
As many of you know, I self published a book called The Melting Pot back in November. While it certainly isn’t my best work as of late, I don’t regret naming my blog after it.
You can find my book here! While it isn’t the best, I do think you can download it for free.
Anyway, I was thinking, as I created my blog name…I don’t want to just blog about The Melting Pot. I want to blog about other things too! Books, Webtoons, TV, anime, movies…I want to blog about all the things I like! And so I decided against just calling my blog something like, The Melting Pot Book. Boring! But I thought, Melting Pots and Other Stuff, or Melting Pots and a Variety of Things didn’t sound good. But then it hit me. The word, “calamities”. Now that was a fun word.
(Maybe not if you’re a Noragami fan, but hey, I hadn’t even heard of that back then. Sorry, Yato). Anyway, I put it all together in one sentence: Melting Pots and Other Calamities. Now that sounded cool, I thought. Definitely something you didn’t hear everyday. Kinda weird, kinda funny, but an inside joke just for me.
On another note, I’m thinking of changing my USER NAME to something like KDreader02. It’s easier to type out than meltingpotsandothercalamities. But, maybe not. I don’t know if I like that idea. Here’s some advice to make it easier: my name is Kate. If you want to tag me or mention me, just say Kate! It’s way easier to spell than…well…my blogger name.
And that’s how I got my blogger name! Maybe it’s not as interesting as you hoped, but hey, I still get questions to this day about it. I hope this was equally informative and fun for you guys to read. ๐ Do you have an interesting story behind your blogger name? I’d love to hear it!
Great post! It’s always interesting to hear a back story! I loved this and Iโm looking forward to reading your future content!โจCome visit some time!โจ๐, Mena from noirerewritten.com

It is really interesting to rwad about it. I love to read how people arrive at their blog names since I’m really bad at coming up with names. Don’t worry, Yato will be proud of you. ๐๐๐ I remembered having a very hard time coming up with my blog name. I only came up with yaguitarist because I love ya books and I’m into electric guitar. Since yaelectricguitar sounds very weird, i settled with yaguitarist. So yeah, that was how I got my blog name. ๐

Yeah, it was really hard. And the only reason my blogger name matches my site name is because I was an amateur and didn’t do my proper research ๐ . And your blog name is cool! I also didn’t know you like electric guitar.

:O Thanks. The reason why I love J-pop is because of all the amazing electric guitar solos and the artists’ voice are to die for. I wonder how they are able to continuously keep singing those high notes. I can listen to them all day. โค

Same…I’m just like, oh for crying out loud! This is a guy, and he can reach higher notes than I can. I just discovered this one artist who actually sounds like a girl at times, and sounds better than me. And then he sounds like himself, and he sounds like two different people…

:O Can I have the artist name or any song title sang by him? Yeah, I get what you mean. My voice literally crack every time I try to hit a high note and those j-pop artists are able to do it at the drop of a hat.

Um…he’s called Mafumafu, and I like some songs of his called, “Hurting for a Very Hurtful Pain” and “Echo”. I think he’s a cover artist, and he’s really good. I’ve only recently discovered him, so I don’t have a ton of recommendations. Though I do think he’s on YouTube!

Okay, and when you do…could you give me some recommendations? Like, I’m just trying to find his stuff that sounds like “Hurting for a Very Hurtful Pain” and “Echo”, because that’s more around his “natural’ voice. Like, often he does songs with a higher pitch. I like those, but they’re easy to find. I’d like to find some more that sound like the two previous songs I mentioned, vocal wise. Thanks!

Okay! I will tell you if I do find them. ๐

Kate. Yes, that’s much easier than meltingpotsandothercalamities. I’ll have to check out your book sometime!
Also, nice Noragami reference ๐

It is way easier…and contradictory to my blogger name. Like, my real name is four letters long, and my blogger name is too long to count ๐.
And yeah, I saw the opportunity for a joke and I took it. Hey, the word “calamity” just isn’t the same after that anime!

That’s cool! I had always wondered how you came up worth your blog name. ๐ My friend who also blogs was stopping by yours, and she was super hungry so when she saw your blog title she thought of fondu and went in this rant about how she wanted some….? ๐๐ Sorry weird story

Glad to know I answered a question! Haha, no biggie! It’s funny; there’s actually a fondue restaurant near where I live called the Melting Pot, so I can sort of see where she comes from.
