Listicle Tag

Thank you Birdie for tagging me for this! This is a really cool, versatile tag, I love it. You should totally check out Birdie’s blog; she has awesome reviews and tags.

The definition of a listicle is:

Rules

  • Create your own listicle tag, using the prompt from the person who tagged you.
  • Tag the creator of the post (not-so-modern-girl!) so that I can read all your brilliant posts and see how the joy of listicles is being spread.
  • Nominate as many people as you want!
  • Set those 5 people the subject/prompt of their listicle post!

Birdie’s prompt was difficult, to say the least, but I did it. It was 5 exceptional book to movie adaptations. This list is in no particular order.

1. Harry Potter series: They did a fantastic job in this movie franchise. Recreating the books is a daunting task, and while the movies are certainly not as good as the books (there’s so much in each book to show!) that’s okay; they’re still good pieces of cinema.

2. The Shawshank Redemption: This is one of the very few book to movie adaptations I prefer just a bit over the original novella. I don’t know, maybe it was the acting? The music? The cinematography? Something about it struck me as more haunting and in your head than the novella (even though the novella was amazing!)

3. The Martian: This was a really accurate adaptation. It told the same story (although it was less detailed than the book), yet kept the same humor that was active in the book. It’s been a while since I watched the movie or read the book, but I remember thinking that the movie got a lot of the details right.

4. Rebecca: Even though I read some trivia where it turns out Alfred Hitchcock may have taken method acting a little too far with this (mainly with the main actress) there is no doubt that this was an amazing adaptation. Each actor was perfectly cast, and the cinematography captured Manderly perfectly.

5. Stand By Me: Taken from the same novella compilation where The Shawshank Redemption was, Stand By Me was originally known as The Body. It’s such a similar adaptation, and each of the child actors they cast were perfect. They captured the spirit of the novella in this, and it became a favorite adaptation of mine.

My prompt is: 5 psychological thriller or mystery pieces of fiction, (that can include books, movies, TV shows and anime, or webcomics) that you’ve either read or watched, or want to read or watch.

I Tag:

Jackie
Sarah
Sophie
Mandy
James J. Cudney
Tiana

Also, you may have noticed I was largely MIA last Sunday. Don’t worry, there’s a post concerning why in the future. And it’ll hopefully be fun!

  1. Hi. Thank you so much for tagging me on this one. I love being able to create something new from what you’ve started. Very cool! Looking forward to working on it today or tomorrow. Great answers on yours. I’ve only seen 4 of the movies and read 2 of the books/series. There’s 1 I haven’t read or seen!

  2. I’ve never watched Shawshank Redemption, but I’ve heard so many people talk about how good it is. I’ll have to watch it!

    Thanks for doing the tag.

  3. Ooooh, I can’t wait to do this one! I love this tag, and your answers were brilliant. I don’t think that I could come up with as many as you did, but you did such a great job. I have yet to see the Rebecca adaption, but it was such an interesting novel that I can imagine Hitchcock did an interesting job with. Wonderful post, as always, Kate! 😀

    1. I can’t wait to see your answers! It was hard…At first, I didn’t remember Rebecca or The Martian, but I’m happy I did. You should totally see Rebecca; while they changed up Rebecca’s death (because this was a movie in the 40s) in some ways, I like it more; it made Maxim a bit more sympathetic in a way. But it’s like it was written to be adapted by Hitchcock, somehow. He was the perfect director for it (even if his method acting with the main actress irks me).

      1. Oooooh, *super adding it to the top of the list of things to watch because I super want to see that* I’m super excited about the Maxim part because he was always so distant. But definitely! He definitely has the psychology for it although yeah, he did a lot of super questionable and not good things.

  4. AH PERFECT! My favorite genre is mystery so I just love the prompt you chose! Okay yep and I enjoy mystery tv shows and movies and EVERYTHING MYSTERY. (totally not ranting about just mysteries in general…) The only movies on here I’ve seen before are The Martian, and Harry Potter (duh). The Martian was actually very good, you’re right! Like they surprisingly pulled it off great! And thank GOD they didn’t mess up the Harry Potter movies in any way! *at family dinner on thanksgiving day* What are YOU thankful for Sarah? Me: Welllllll I’m BEYOND thankful for Harry Potter AND OF COURSE that they didn’t mess up the movies. *bows*

  5. Thank you so much for tagging me, Kate! This should be interesting as I don’t read/watch that many psychological thrillers/mysteries hahaha
Unfortunately, I’ve only read HP from your list but I’m planning on trying at least Rebecca soon.
A good friend of mine who was a big fan of The Martian really disliked the movie, which I thought was weird because I actually liked it. To each his own, I guess.
    Great post! ☺️

    1. No problem! And sorry, I didn’t really realize…maybe just do my second option, and do To be watched or to be read. Hmm, you should see Rebecca (and read the book, it’s one of the few classics I enjoyed)
That’s…different. The general consensus seems to be it’s well received. Personally, I liked both a lot!

      1. Ah no worries! I’m sure I’ll find something to fit in there 🙂 A challenge is always nice!
Yeah I definitely will ^^ It’s been on my TBR for way too long.
I thought so too, but oh well hahaha It got me curious to read the book, though!
