Halloween Creatures Book Tag

Thanks Mandy @ Book Princess Reviews for tagging me for this tag! If, for some reason, you haven’t checked out her blog yet, you should: she has a wide variety of book reviews and features, and is definitely one of the most unique book bloggers out there.

However, before we get to the tag, a quick announcement: the next two posts will not be my Traces short story series. Why? Because I’m a little tired, it’s a little slow to write thus far, and because I was hoping to get it finished by Halloween. However, we’re not even at the middle yet…so it’s pretty clear I can’t finish it by Tuesday. However, I do have another Halloween themed post in the works, so I won’t be done with timely content for now!

Witches : A book or character that is magical:



I think this book kinda explains itself, right? 😉 If not, I chose this not only because of the total dream circus, but because Morgenstern’s writing is some of the most magical writing I have ever read.

Mummies : A book or character you can’t wrap your mind around:

I’ll just choose one of the assigned reading books I have right now: The Hot Zone. This is probably the scariest book I have ever read in my life. It chronicles the time in the 90s when there was an Ebola outbreak in the United States. It’s actually kinda terrifying (for me, because I have a weak stomach when it comes to this kinda thing.)

Vampires : A book, series, or author you can’t live without:

Oh gosh, too many to count. Let’s just say one of my favorite authors: Markus Zusak. 

Werewolves : A book best read in the middle of the night:

This is the most recent (and one of the best) thriller series I have ever read. I loved these books, and can only imagine how frightening they are read at night.

Zombies : A book you picked up for the 2nd time/Continued after DNF’ing it:

Now, don’t look at me like that! I was very little when I started reading these, and the 4th book really freaked me out. It took me around two years to start reading this series again. 

Ghosts : A book you easily predicted a twist or ending :

I have to agree with Mandy here. As much as I liked this book, I guessed the murderer way too easily. Thankfully, with the second book in the series, I had a harder time pinning down one suspect.

Frankenstein : A book that truly shocked you:

My friends all raved about the twist in this book, so I skeptically picked this one up. Wow, they weren’t exaggerating. I guessed tiny bits and pieces, but didn’t guess everything at all.

Skeletons : A book or character that chilled you to the bone:

Hmm…I can’t think of a book/character that I haven’t already said (if I hadn’t mentioned the series earlier, I would’ve said Billy Dent from the I Hunt Killers series. Gah. He was a great villain). So I’ll just say one of my favorite Webtoon villains.

Dongsoo Seon is definitely one of the best villains I have ever read. He is just brilliantly written and seems impossible to beat without feeling overpowered. 

Ghouls : A book that left you hungry :

Whenever I read a Stoker and Holmes book, I just wanna eat all the food in them. Gah, it sounds so unique and yummy.

Goblins : A greedy character :

Ugh! Mandy stole another of my answers! I have to go with the majority of the cast of Six of Crows.

Devil : A dark, evil character:

I’ll just say another of my favorite Webtoon villains.

I think it says something when the readers of Dr. Frost, which consists of people who typically love villainous characters, hate this guy’s guts. He’s just…ugh. He’s awful, but is amazingly well written, a great character. He’s a villain we love to hate.

Grim Reaper : A character you loved/hated that died:

Um. Where do I start?

Scarecrow : A book or character that scares you

Let me just repeat, I am currently reading The Hot Zone, and I  can just say this book made me feel sick within the first chapter. I avoided it for a few days because of that.
