The High School Book Tag

I was tagged by Icebreaker months back for this tag, and I’m only just now getting to it…yikes.

The Rules:

• Thank the creators: Namitha @ TeenMemoir and Jasmine @ HowUsefulItIs

• Answer the questions.

• Add pictures! (If you want to)

• Tag (about) 5 people.

A+ on the test: A book or character that makes you smile?:

So many. So, so many. But I gotta go with the animals. And an animal that almost always guarantees a smile on my face is Saphie from Saphie The One Eyed Cat.

Sports team: A fictional family that you want to be a part of?

While I certainly wouldn’t trade out my own family, I have to agree with Icebreaker here. I quite like the Blackthorn family from The Dark Artifices.

Class President: A book that tries to make a difference?

While I’ve been super bad at getting back to it for a while now, what I did read of Hidden Figures was great and inspiring.

High School Sweetheart: A book character you have a crush on?

Here’s a secret of mine…I tend to not crush on characters….scandalous! I tend to just have favorite characters and that’s about it. I’d much prefer being friends with my favorite characters.

Prom Night: A book with a beautiful cover?

I still have to say that The Night Circus has one of my favorite covers of all time. It reminds me of the Webtoon Annarasumanara!

Spring Break: A book you can always turn to when you need an escape?

I tend to do this with mysteries, so books like the I Hunt Killers series, One of Us is Lying, and others I can’t think of right now. It’s fun to go back and look at all the foreshadowing I missed. (Kinda like me watching Psycho for the first time, all while knowing the plot twist, and seeing all these tiny hints and clues. It’s fun.)

School Lunch: A book character(s) you want to have lunch with?

Any character that would like to hang out with me. I wouldn’t want to force them to eat lunch with me.

Halloween Party: A character you would like to be for one day?

Oh gosh this is hard. Most of the characters are from stories where they suffer too much. I don’t want to suffer!

School Bully: A villain you don’t want to go to school with?

Any of them. Again, I read a lot of crime books, which means there’d be a lot of serial killers around my school. Hmm, let’s take a villain from a Webtoon that actually did hang around a school for a day (and messed so. Much. Up.): Seonghyun Moon from Dr. Frost.

Graduation: A book with a bittersweet conclusion?

There are so many, but here are just a few:

I don’t think these three need much explanation.

  1. Oooh, Kate, this was a lot of fun! I love what you said about rereading mysteries. So many people are like, why would you reread a mystery when you already know what happens at the end? It’s totally for going back through all that foreshadowing and hints that you missed. So much fun. And I’m with you with the suffering characters!! I just want to be a character in a nice little contemporary that has no problems. XD Mystery book characters always end up almost killed at least once, so we wouldn’t want to be one of them. Wonderful answers, as always, and thanks so much for the tag! 🙂

    1. I’m always like, no, it’s awesome to look back and find all this cool foreshadowing, especially with unpredictable mysteries. The downside is that I feel stupid for not noticing it earlier, haha.
Contemporary characters are always under such stress though. I have enough stress in my life right now, haha.

  2. Yay! Thanks for the tag! I don’t think I have done this one yet(?) Then again I haven’t done a lot of tags LOL Your answers were amazing! The Night Circus has a beautiful cover! I can totally see why you would be hesitant to be a character from a book if they have to go through a lot of bad circumstances XD

  3. Love your answers! The Night Circus cover is also my favorite. Great choice! I also enjoyed One of Us is Lying too. Were you able to guess the outcome of that book? I couldn’t haha.. Thanks for doing this tag and I hope you had a great time coming up with answers 🙂
