My TRUE return…

Hey guys! Happy New Year! I know I said I was back two days ago, but since that was the day I returned from vacation, I needed a day off still because I was tired. But I thought this would be a good time to provide you with a bit more details of my vacation…here’s my excerpt from my first return post, but I’ll add some details below each sentence:

A lot of my vacation has been personal stuff, but here’s the fun parts:

I got to go to one of the BEST restaurants. It was dim sum, and OMG the food was amazing.

There was this restaurant in a mall nearby the hotel my family was staying at for a while, and we found out it was kinda famous. So we decided to try to eat there, but it turns out it was super crowded. We had to wait two hours to get in! Thankfully, this was okay, because it was in a mall, so we had plenty to do. But the food was amazing: there were these dumplings, and I have no idea how they did this, but they were filled with soup! They seemed too delicate for that, but they did it. There was also noodles with minced pork, and buns filled with red bean paste. And these unique wontons filled with vegetables that I actually enjoyed a lot. Basically, it was a one of a kind food experience.

I got to go to mochi making with family, that was a lot of fun. I got to pound rice, even though I am sadly not strong enough. Also, the younger cousins are really adorable and a lot of fun to hang out with.

this sums it up pretty well. For those confused, mochi is basically Japanese rice cakes that you eat at New Year’s for good luck. They can be plain, or filled with red bean paste. The mochi making is a big thing in my family, so a lot of relatives were there, so it was a ton of fun.

I also got to go the Natural History Museum, I haven’t been there since I was very young. It was cool to see it again.

I got an iPhone for Christmas. It would’ve been more surprising, but I guessed it. I was kinda happy that I figured it out though, if we’re being honest.

I also got Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King. It’s really interesting, actually!

I went to the Mission Inn with my cousins, where there were a lot of amazing lights. It was gorgeous. I even got to go on a Ferris wheel, which was super cool.

Oh yeah. This was awesome. The Mission Inn is a very fancy hotel, so we didn’t stay there. But the light festival was super cool. There were a lot of snacks (although we had a lot of dinner, so I just had some coffee). There were also horse drawn carriages, which we didn’t go on, but looked super cool. The Ferris Wheel was a lot of fun too. Here’s a photo of the lights:

A couple of days after that, I went to go see The Last Jedi with my family at a theater. It was…interesting, to say the least. The storyline could’ve been stronger, and there was a lot of lore that I didn’t know (I enjoy SW, but I’m not terribly aware of much lore…) But it was certainly interesting, and the visuals were amazing. There were some scenes that just looked stunning and made it worth seeing in the theater.

And then we tried to see some friends, even though most of them were out of town. Sigh. But we got to see a few, which was nice.

Then we went home. There were some puppies at the airport, and they were so, so cute.
